What's in style today is out of style tomorrow. A new technology today will be forgotten tomorrow. In fact, things change so fast that our traditional references and names are fading away. In fact, sometimes we date ourselves just by the fact that we can remember some things that you don't hear anymore.
Do you remember when you received a call from someone in another city, and someone told you, "Hurry up, it's a long distance!" You don't hear that anymore!
Do you remember when 45-rpm records had scratches in them and were repeated? Then someone would say, "You sound like a broken record." You don't hear that much anymore!
When was the last time you heard someone say, "Get up and change the channel!" or "Does your new car have electric windows?" - You don't hear that anymore!
The times are really changing. Only a few people can remember the saying, "If you don't know, look up in the encyclopedia. In a day when everyone has a cell phone, when was the last time you heard someone ask, "Does anyone have a camera?"
Somebody here remembers a time when the fastest way to send a message was to "send it to Western Union" and the fastest way to mail a letter was to send it air mail. - You don't hear that anymore.
Just a few years ago, somebody said, "I saw it on Myspace," and someone else said, "Facebook is for kids. You don't hear that anymore!
If a person couldn't find a job a generation ago, folks once said, "You can always get a job at the post office," but you don't hear that anymore!
Styles change, and people change, but God remains the same.
We still call his name although there are many other things we don't hear anymore!
