Are the things we accumulate in this life of any valuable when we change spiritual countries?
What's valuable in one country may not be valuable in another. When a person leaves one country and enters another his currency must be exchanged for the currency used in his destination country. The value of currency varies from nation to nation. A man may leave France with 7 francs but they are only worth 1 U.S. Dollar. He may leave Italy with 2,191 Lire but when he gets to America he'll only have 1. He may leave Korea with 1,280 Won but he'll only have 1 when he gets to the U.S. He could leave Tanzania with 886 Shillings but would only have 1 when he made it to the shores of the U.S. He could leave Vietnam with 14,953 Dong and still have just 1 when he made it to America. That same man could leave America with 100 and be a millionaire in Vietnam because his 100 American dollars would exchange to 1.5 million Dong.
What is the value of all the things we accumulate on earth in heaven? Do our worldly possessions have any value in heaven? I suspect that what we call value on earth will have very little value in heaven. There is an obvious difference, since the streets are paved with gold in heaven, meaning gold has very little exchange value in glory land. Yet, on earth, gold is the standard upon which currency is based.
As Christians, we put our treasures on the things of God where they will not rust and corrode. These treasures maintain their value because they are guaranteed by the glory of God.
Today, keep focused on heavenly treasures. God will be pleased.
