Our world is under a dark cloud of evil; it is everywhere. We see so much evil that it causes us to lock our doors, bar our windows and peep out of our windows. We are experiencing a dark night when children are molested in parks, women are routinely raped and young people are dying by the dozens every hour in the nation. In the middle of our trouble we send out a distress signal to the only power we know that can respond to evil. In our distress, we sing, “Hear our prayer oh Lord. Incline thine ear to us and grant us thy peace.”
In the darkness of our night, God heard us and has sent his answer. His name is Jesus.
As Christians, we lament the presence of evil in the world and we mourn the victims of destructive hands. However, we are not without hope. In the middle of our night we send up a prayer, we know will be heard in the morning, “I must tell Jesus…Jesus can help me. Jesus alone.”
