Has anyone ever taken anything out of your hands?
When a circumstance is in your hands you have control of the outcome. You determine the nature of the situation and to a large extent, its planning and execution.
Henry David Thoreau in his treatise "Self Reliance" maintained that every man is the captain of his own soul and charts his own destiny independent of any forces outside of his own will. However, we have come to learn that Thoreau was obviously in error, we do not control our own destinies; our fate lies in the hands of a power much higher, stronger and more controlling than ourselves.
We have come to learn that God is always watching us and directing us. He constantly urges us to follow the divine path and corrects us when we error. The wise among us have learned that it is best to put our lives in his hand from start to finish.
When our lives are in God's hands we let him pilot us. We don't even try to co-pilot; we just let him give the orders and we execute them. We constantly pray that He will give us wisdom and common sense to navigate the meandering channels of life.
And when life gets tough? Well, when life gets tough we do the exact same thing; we put it all in his hands.
As Christians, our faith allows us to trust God completely with our lives on this earth and our secured place in the kingdom to come. As each new day begins, we joyfully say, "It's in your hands."
