Rest
Millions of shoppers around the world have seen the little tags that indicate that the merchandise that is being displayed is being offered without warranty or guarantee. It is a warning to the customer that the merchandise may or may not be functional, or may require some level of attention to become operable.
We have seen examples of this on used car lots, in damaged merchandise stores, rummage sales, estate sales, and even commercial establishments that have sections that specialize in offering seconds. The frugal shopper can often save money by purchasing items that need just a little touch up to be usable. Sometimes shoppers can save considerable amounts of money when they buy furniture or appliances that have small scratches or dents.
In recent years used cars have started to post warnings to customers in big letters that advised that a pre-owned vehicle is being sold with no warranty so the buyer should beware that the purchase price does not include a return, repair, or any other consideration; it is being sold as is.
As-is does not always mean that the product is bad but it does always mean that no warranty is attached to it. Anyone who purchases it does so with the full knowledge that once they get home there is a possibility that their purchase may disappoint them.
We came to Jesus "as is" and he helped us live better, saved lives.
That's why the songwriter wrote, "I came to Jesus as I was, weary, wounded and sad. I found in him a resting place and he has made me glad."
