We have experienced many moments when we defied the odds. We landed the job they said we couldn’t get. We received the honor that seemed beyond our reach. We gained entry into programs that were thought impossible. We won awards no one thought possible. Those were “Wow” moments. We were so excited because we achieved what everyone said could not be done.
Today, many of us can count the weapons that have been used against us in our journey. Some have been verbally attacked by family members, criticized by co-workers, demonized by enemies and fallen victim to numerous plots and tricks; yet somehow we seem to always escape destruction and succeed much to the anger of our enemies. Whether we know it or not God often places a protective shield around believers who are attempting to live according to His law.
The Olympics and other contests inspire us because we see people like ourselves rise to the top as a result of their hard work and faith in themselves. We listen to their stories and we are inspired to achieve ourselves.
The same holds true of those who work to build the kingdom of God. There are many who trying against all odds to build Christian homes and lead Christian lives. In our smallest efforts, evil seems to stalk us in an attempt to prevent us from achieving what the Lord desires. However, we are not alone. God sends us into the world as sheep among wolves, but he gives us His promise never to leave us alone. This does not mean that believers are invulnerable to attack but it does mean that the agents of Satan who attack the children of God usually find that their efforts do not achieve the desired result. They do not prosper. They do not succeed. Despite the weapons in Satan's arsenal no a single one of them will prosper against us as long as we stay in the will of God.
We rejoice in the knowledge that while Satan may often frustrate us he will not succeed in thwarting the will of God. We know that if we remain faithful, the day will come when we will see all of the efforts of the devil to defeat his people fall like lightning from the sky. We know we will be victorious if we remain in the will of God.
