In the frailty of our humanity we often forget where our
blessings come from. The child that disrespects a parent forgets the source of
their blessing. An employee that disrespects an employer, forgets who writes the
weekly paycheck. A citizen that talks
down the nation in which he/she lives, forgets the source of their freedom to
speak freely.
God is the source of all our
provisions whether it’s food, clothing or shelter. It’s as if there is a great
fountain in heaven and God just turns it on and lets it flow; not just to us
but to all of God’s creation. Jesus made this clear in Matthew 6:28-30, "And why take ye
thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil
not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his
glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass
of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” Whether it is a house, a
car, a little money, a few possessions or the pillow under your head all flow
from the fountains of God’s favor and blessing. He is our source.
. Hebrews
12:2 says, "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher
of our faith; who for the joy
that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down
at the right hand of the throne of God.” It is His hand that is on the
faucet in heaven. It is His hand that controls the flow of blessings that we
receive.
