Outreach
We admire first responders, firefighters and emergency medical responders who quickly arrive on the scene of an accident and offer assistance that often saves lives. We are relieved because we believe they know what to do to help us. We trust them and follow their instructions to the letter.
A conversation with a first responder can entertain you for hours as they unravel hair raising accounts of near death experiences for victims of fires, accidents and sickness. As we listen to them we are enthralled with their accounts and impressed with their knowledge, skill and bravery.
A firefighter who dashes into a burning house to save a victim or a first responder who responds to our emergencies with calmness and strength, are heroes in our eyes. We admire them because of their courage and their willingness to sacrifice themselves to provide assistance to others. That's what happens all too often. When storms rage, flood waters rise or other natural disasters strike our neighborhoods we expect them to be present, forgetting that they also have families. Many assist us in such times while thinking of their own loved ones at the same time.
Our God has one up on firefighter or the EMS provider, he is our first responder. In the time of trouble, before the ambulance or the police arrive, our God is already there.
