Mystery
Have you ever seen something strange? That which is strange is that which is unusual, out of the ordinary...odd. We are accustomed to many of the oddities of our generation. Strange hair cuts and oddly colored and shaped hair styles. Strange clothing. Strange cars and even stranger looking drivers.
We see so many strange things today that even the presence of strange things themselves are not strange anymore.
Magicians, like David Copperfield and Blackstone, have to think hard to come up with tricks that will catch our imagination. Authors and dramatists rack their brains to devise plots that are different and imaginative.
Sometimes strange events are frightening. Sometimes they are unsettling. People who experience a truly strange event are usually never the same again.
The resurrection of Christ from the dead has been studied by scholars and scientists for two thousand years. Scientist have measured the tomb where he lay and projected elaborate theories about the veracity of the resurrection event. Some have written of the impossibility of the event. Others have written about the majesty of it as a declaration of God's power.
To those outside of the faith, the resurrection of Christ is a strange thing. They cannot understand it. They cannot rationalize or explain it because it appears unexplainable, indefinable and beyond scientific explanation. It is a strange thing.
Christians, however, know that the birth, death, and resurrection of Christ, while unusual, were never-the-less real. It is real historically and real in our lives.
As we celebrate the resurrection of Christ from the dead, we also celebrate his resurrection in our life, which was truly a strange event that left our friends baffled and love ones amazed at what God can do!
Strange things happen every day!
