Has there ever been a time when you felt the desire to move up to another level? That's the time when you look at your present situation and conclude that while you are not doing badly, that you should strive to climb up a little higher. No one wants to remain at the same level forever; we all desire to improve.
There are many of us living black and white lives in a color TV world. We have resisted the temptation to upgrade, satisfied with that black and white box in our living room or bedroom.
In the mid 1950's many in the African-American community started getting television sets in our homes. Those first TV 's sat in fine pieces of furniture, down on the floor, with round black and white picture tubes.
The picture tube was made larger and, as time passed, color was added. When Color was added, there was a need to upgrade from black and white to color TV.
When the cameras started sending bigger sharper pictures to our sets. Many of our analog TV sets were not able to show these breath taking pictures so pictures were sliced up and modified to fit our old fashioned TV's. We saw a picture, but what we saw wasn't the entire picture.
A while back someone came up with the idea of making a television set that could show everything being sent to it just the way it was being sent, without chopping up the picture or fading the colors. They introduced it to the world and called it High Definition Television or HDTV.
As Christians, we desire to live a life that is closer to God, sharper, clearer and more in focus. Like HDTV we want to live a better life for God.
