Hunger
Have you ever eaten leftovers? Believe it or not there are many people who refuse to eat leftovers. They stay away from leftovers as if they would catch a deathly disease from them. They wont eat any kind of leftover. Left over chicken. Left over rice. Left over turkey or ham. They wont eat anything that they know is a leftover. They insist that everything must be freshly prepared. Then there are others that will eat the same thing everyday until there is no more and grow fat and happy. If chickens are fried on Sunday, they will eat chicken thighs, breasts and drumsticks until the gristle on the bone is gone! The dog who waits for leftovers in these houses will starve to death because they even eat the crumbs from the chicken crust, drink the juice off the greens, and sop all of todays gravy with yesterdays biscuit.
A leftover is the food thats left from a previous meal. It is not spoiled. It remains tasty and is just as nutritious as it was when it was first prepared. There are two schools of thought with respect to leftovers. One line of thinking is that left over food does not taste as good because it has been refrigerated for a time. The other line of thinking is that left over food often tastes better because the seasonings have had time to lock themselves into each item. But there is a third consideration: Whether or not we eat leftovers, has a lot to do with how long it has been since weve last eaten.
If God blessed you yesterday with health and strength, should we snub our nose at him because he gave us the same amount of health and strength he gave us yesterday and nothing new. If he blessed us with a roof over our head in the past, should we be angry with him because he blessed us with that same roof day after day? Should we be angry because he keeps putting the same cornflakes on our shelves with the same kind of milk, day after day. Should we get upset with because he blessed us with a car that runs and everyday, he keeps giving the same car and it runs just like it did before?
As Christians, we dont complain about Gods blessings. We are thankful for everything he puts before us. If he keeps blessing us over and over again; we love the leftovers! Today, don't worry about asking God for more blessings, tell you'll be happy to get yesterday's blessing. A leftover blessing achieves the same purpose. Praise the Lord!
