If you could make the perfect man what he be like?
If given the assignment to make the perfect man how tall would he be? What color would you make his eyes. How old would he be? Would he have six pack abs, bulging biceps, and a barrel size chest? Would he have dazzling bedroom eyes, luscious lips and a deep, romantic voice?
What about his personality? If he had all of the above but had no money would he be acceptable? Desirable? Loveable?
Obviously, all of us would have a hard time creating the perfect man just as many have spent years searching for him but have always come up short. It seems that every man has something missing from the list. If he looks good, he doesn't have a job. If he has a job and looks good, he doesn't have a body. If he has a body, job, youth, looks and dazzling eyes, he's not romantic. If he's romantic, he's too short. If he's tall, he can't dance. If he has the perfect package of looks, body, job, attitude, and romance, you might find out that he's gay. There will always be something too long or too short in our search for the perfect man.
The Marine Corps advertises that it is looking for a few good men. What does that mean?
Experience has taught that the measure of a man is not by his shoe size, shirt size and the width of his belt. Neither is it determined by the depth of his wallet or the muscles in his arms. There are characteristics about a real man that often do not appeal to the eye but are evident in his character.
Real men are strong, courageous, loving, sound thinking and god fearing. All of the other attributes are extras that make him even more appealing.
God made man in his own image. He made him in such a wonderful way that the psalmist asked the question, "What is man that thou are mindful of him?" Man and his kind are the wonderful creations of God himself. The body is the outer shell, but because a godly man is made by God himself, the qualities went in before for the name went on.
As Christians, we know that God is responsible for all creation. We are all wonderfully made in his likeness. We glorify him for creating mankind and we revel in the fact that his creation was perfect in every respect, because when God makes a man, the man he makes is shaped by the hand of God himself.
