Appreciation
Have you ever had a special moment in your life that you wish you could save
forever? Every life has thousands of special moments that pass by so quickly that we wish we could catch them and freeze them for all time. What was your special moment? The look on your face after a victory? The birth of your child? The painful look of defeat or failure? When we experience great highs and great lows of emotion in an unusual fashion those are moments to remember. The Eastman Kodak Film Company coin a phrase a few years ago describing such moments as Kodak moments, because they are moments that defined who we were and how we felt at a particular point in our lives. We all expect Kodak moments. We will take photographs either digitally or on film of special moments that may include weddings, teas, reunions, and family celebrations. They are happy moments that we want to remember all of our lives. Of course, Kodak hopes that everyone will preserve his or her special moment with a Kodak product. A few years ago, Whitney Houston sang a song entitled One moment in time. The lyrics defined a special moment:
To taste the sweet, I faced the pain
I rise and fall, yet through it all this much remains
I was One moment in time
When I'm more than I thought I could be
When all of my dreams are a heart beat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I'm racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will feel, I will feel eternity
As Christians, we have come to recognize that every moment that God gives us is precious and should be used wisely. We have one life to live and each moment should be lived as if we only had one moment in time. One poet said:
I only have one minute with sixty seconds in it
Forced upon me, didn't seek it, didn't choose it
But, it's up to me to use it, give account if I abuse it
Yes, it is only just a minute but eternity is in it Today, waste no time. Use every moment as if was you last.
