What others see as fragments, God sees as a treasure. When we have failed and seem to have little purpose for our lives, God picks us up because he sees our purpose.
Consider the drunk who searched the garbage for a taste of wine and found what he believed was an old fiddle. "It's nothing but an old fiddle," he thought and tossed it aside. A second scavenger came and found the old fiddle, he tried to play it but he got was screeches and scratches and he threw it away because it had no value. A third scavenger sold the fiddle to an antique store whereupon a great violinist happened upon it. The violinist tuned its strings and gently rubbed the bow them. Out came the finest sound, much to the amazement of all. As the violinist bought the fiddle and walked out of the door, the owner remarked: "it was just an old fiddle, until it was touched by the master's hand."
As Christians, we rejoice in the fact that our God always sees our potential and never dismisses us a just mere disposable fragments. If we fall, he picks us up and puts us to use again.
