Anticipation
As a special day gets closer, do you get excited? When special days come many people are filled with the joy and excitement of anticipation. It makes us anxious and we can't sleep at night. Sometimes even in the day, we dream about it. Is it an engagement? A Wedding? Is it the return of a loved one? Graduation Day? A Birthday? Christmas? When that special day gets closer it seems as if the days get longer, the clock ticks slower and the pages on the calendar never turn. I can't wait is the phrase we use! We are bursting with excitement.
Sometimes it's hard to wait, especially if you have been delaying something important for a long time.
One of the hardest things about Christmas is waiting. We can't wait! But it's not always Christmas, it's hard to wait for many things that we want. We do have the joy of knowing that when it finally comes it will be well worth the wait.
Isaiah said that they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up on wings as eagles. They shall run and not faint. Waiting is not easy, especially when we think about how great it will be when it comes.
As Christians, we are especially excited about the coming of the Christ Child. His arrival on the earth was a sign of renewed hope and faith. As we celebrate the anniversary of his coming 20 centuries ago, it stirs renew hope and about present conditions. Even now we look past the difficulties of our present times to that great time, when Shiloh Comes. Today, join the excitement of the moment. You are much to be excited about. The Christ Child renews your hope!
